Technique: Kasim hand dye. Made out of Iron rust and Jaggery along with upcycled applique shape.
We started dyeing this shirt using threads first. The two fronts were kept symmetrical and the back from the center half. Same goes with the sleeves. If you can spot there are different thickness of the threads used. After the completion of thread placement, the shirt still looked very decent. We were just sitting and thinking what else could be done here. Can you see a few clusters of filled tiny rectangles and circles and a few more shapes in the piece? That's all things that we found in our surroundings while designing it. So, the rectangle stamping is done using an eraser, circles are done using a random hollow circular stuff we found, the solid filled circles are from the back tip of a pen. Of course, we kept all the stamping symmetrical as well to maintain the regularity.
Here the challenge is not yet completed. While final stitching the shirt we gathered up all the cut pieces required for a shirt to be ready. We had it all with us except the collars. Now while washing the dye there is no guarantee that your first washing batch would be similar to the second. And then here we came up with an idea to use a solid black color collar from fabric scraps we had.
Slowly we could see the whole piece coming up together as one.
